"action news" reporter katherine scott is live near the fire scene with what is happening. katherine. >> reporter: matt we're just a few blocks from the shore line and the wind is just really can kicking up. it's caused a problem for firefighters all night as they have been trying to get this fire out and you can see that they're still battling flames on top of this building here on atlantic avenue. this stretch of atlantic is still closed as fire crews have been battling these flames. the good news is, though, everyone was able to get out safely, but there is a whole lot of damage here. the fire broke out just after 10 o'clock on the 1100 block of atlantic avenue. you could see fierce flames pouring from the windows. firefighters were on the scene in two minutes and when they arrived around 10 people had already gotten out. no one was trapped inside. officials say the fire started in the front of a business called ac alterations and it spread quickly tearing through nearby businesses and the upstairs apartments. it affected four buildings. 17 people are now being assisted
